Lod, A City at Crossroads

Lod is just nine miles from Tel Aviv. Geographically in the center, the city lives on its fringes.

Lod is one of Israel’s oldest cities with a magnificent heritage of different cultures leaving their indelible mark. At once, it is:

     *A Biblical Jewish city

     *Home to Roman Polis sages

     *An important Christian city in the Middle Ages

     *A Muslim provincial capital

     *A city of immigrants since the State of Israel’s founding!  

Despite its storied history, today’s Lod has enormous social, educational and economic difficulties.
